On 01/01/2024, the Syrian Networks League (SNL), in partnership and funding with GlobalGiving, launched a multi-sectoral needs survey project in the areas most affected by the earthquake in northern Syria, with the aim of examining the reality of these areas more than a year after the earthquake disaster and identifying the most important aspects. Needs in various sectors of these regions.
This project is considered a pioneer in the field of needs assessment at the level of the nine relief and development sectors, and targets 3 main regions in northern Syria: Afrin, Jabal Samaan, and Harem.
The data collection methodology in this project is based on quantitative and qualitative methods, and uses several different tools, including direct questionnaires with heads of affected families in those areas, in addition to focus groups, and interviews with key people in each sector.
The project also directs its data collection mechanisms to two levels: the host communities and the displaced in the camps, and relies on a group of surveyors who were carefully selected from the volunteer teams present on the ground from the people of the same areas, and they were trained on data collection tools to ensure the quality of the outputs. desired ones.
The field survey teams began their work in collecting data on Wednesday, 03/20/2024, and their work is expected to continue for a period of up to eight continuous months, during which operations to reach the targets will be carried out on a frequent basis, in conjunction with data analysis operations and issuing the desired reports from the data by the team. Specialized work accompanies and supervises field survey operations.
We hope for the success of this project as a constructive step in the process of studying the needs of the earthquake-stricken areas in northern Syria, and an attempt to support stakeholders by providing them with actual, realistic indicators that contribute to planning sustainable projects on the ground to serve our Syrian people in the liberated north.
